IUF Code of Conduct
1. Introduction
We encourage everyone to promote inclusivity, player safety, fair play, and knowledge of the game. The purpose of this document is to ensure that all affiliated IUF participants (which includes all players, coaches, volunteers, and board members) are promoting these objectives. To that end, IUF has created a Code of Conduct for all IUF affiliated events and activities. Participants at IUF events are responsible for following this policy.

2. Expectations
IUF participants are expected to be inclusive regardless of any actual or perceived characteristics including but not limited to gender, ethnicity or experience level. IUF expects all players, coaches and volunteers to treat each other with dignity and respect. The following list includes but is not limited to behaviors and actions that will not be tolerated:
  • On the Field Violations
    • Verbal
      • Any racial, sexist, or derogatory language of any kind will not be tolerated
      • Taunting
      • Excessive Profanity
    • Physical Aggression
      • Physical fights or threats
    • Sexual Harassment
    • Unfair play such as:
      • Dangerous plays
      • Cheating
      • Spiking the disc on other players
  • Off the Field Violations
    • Verbal
      • Derogatory or harmful chants
      • Abusive language directed at teammates, coaches, volunteers or opponents
      • Online harassment, bullying or discrimination
    • Sexual Harassment
      • Disrespecting IUF volunteers/organizers
    • Disrespecting park personnel and property
    • Providing alcohol to minors
    • Illegal drug use at IUF events
    • Music
      • No songs with parental advisory label are allowed at youth events
      • No loud and offensive music
3. Youth
  • Coaches at IUF events are held responsible for youth players and team
    • Must follow USAU’s policy for SafeSport guidelines and/or other USAU requirements
      • https://usaultimate.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/2020-SafeSport-Code-04.01.20-1.pdf
  • If a player reports a violation at a tournament, coaches must report complaints to Tournament Director as soon as possible
    • Tournament Director has the authority to remove teams/players/coaches from an event and/or tournament after giving verbal warning to coach/team

4. Reporting Violations
  • IUF encourages anyone to report violations if they feel someone is not meeting these expectations. Players may immediately report them to their captains, coaches, or Tournament Director . You may also contact the Conduct Ambassadors or any IUF board members. If you feel uncomfortable reporting in person, you may anonymously report violations on the IUF website.
  • Once a complaint has been reported to a captain or coach, it must be communicated to the Conduct Ambassador to ensure follow up.
    • If the complaint is against the Conduct Ambassador it must be reported directly to a member of the IUF board.
  • It is important for incidences to be reported as soon as possible so action can be taken. The Conduct Ambassadors and IUF Board will have 1 week from the reported incident to investigate the complaint and decide on disciplinary action. This allows the committee to investigate and interview other witnesses.
  • When reporting a violation, please include the following information:
    • Name of individual/team
    • Date of occurrence
    • Description of what occurred
    • Email/Contact information
    • Other witnesses
  • Confidentiality will be maintained by all parties involved
    • Conduct ambassadors and captains must maintain confidentiality of anyone reporting a complaint who wants to remain anonymous
    • Disciplinary action will be taken if confidentiality is broken
      • Leadership positions will be revoked
    • Persons reporting complaint shall be protected from retaliation

5. Enforcement Process
  • IUF board holds the responsibility to investigate complaints to determine if a violation was made. Based on the severity of the violation, the board may issue any of the following consequences based on a board majority:
    • No Fault
    • Verbal Strike
      • First strike results with verbal warning
      • Second strike results with verbal warning and suspension for 1 week of IUF events
      • Three strikes will result in removal from IUF events for 1 year
    • Removal from current league season or IUF event
    • Suspension from 1 to 2 future leagues or IUF events
    • Ban from all IUF events

Waiver/Release for Communicable Diseases Including COVID-19
In consideration of being allowed to participate in or attend a USA Ultimate (“USAU”) event (the “Event”), the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates, certifies and agrees that: 1. My participation in and/or attendance at the Event includes possible exposure to and illness from infectious diseases, including without limitation, COVID-19. Although particular hygiene habits may reduce this risk, the risk of serious illness, injury, permanent disability and death does exist. 2. USAU cannot ensure that all other people at or near the Event, including other participants, coaches and volunteers, are taking precautionary measures to mitigate risks to ensure the health and safety of other participants, coaches, and volunteers, and therefore, participation in or attendance at the Event involves risk of exposure to infectious diseases. 3. I am familiar with the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and my state’s health department regarding infectious diseases. I acknowledge that the circumstances related to infectious diseases are constantly changing and that the guidelines are regularly modified and updated. I accept full responsibility for familiarizing myself with the most recent guidelines. 4. I knowingly, voluntarily and freely assume all risks, both known and unknown, of my participation and attendance at the Event, even if arising from the actions, omissions or negligence of the RELEASEES (as defined below) or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation and attendance. 5. I certify that, within the prior 14 days, I have not tested positive for, and did not exhibit symptoms of COVID-19, including without limitation, a fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, headache, chills, unusual muscle or body aches and/or sore throat. I also certify that I do not have a household family member/roommate who has, within the past 14 days, tested positive for or exhibited the above-referenced symptoms of COVID-19, and I have not knowingly been exposed to any person with COVID-19 or any of the symptoms set forth above within the past 14 days. 6. I willingly agree to comply with all recommendations and requirements of USAU to ensure safe participation. If, however, I feel unsafe at any time, I will remove myself from participation and bring my concerns to the attention of the nearest coach or USAU representative immediately. 7. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge and hold harmless USAU, its officers, officials, agents, representatives and or employees, as well as other participants, volunteers, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the Event (collectively, the “RELEASEES”), with respect to any injury (including without limitation, personal injury, disability and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability or expense, that I may experience or incur in connection with the Event. I understand and agree that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions or negligence of any of the RELEASEES, whether the injury or infection occurs before, during or after the Event.

I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND SIGN IT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY. I ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS AGREEMENT WAS EXPRESSLY NEGOTIATED AND IS A MATERIAL INDUCEMENT FOR THE PERMISSION GRANTED BY USAU TO PARTICIPATE OR ATTEND THE EVENT.
